Cornstalk Nitrate Cutter

Description:

The University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture CornStalk Nitrate Cutter is a light, efficient and precise way to collect corn stalk samples for the corn stalk nitrate test. By combining  two cutting blades and spacers into one single tool the user is able to take samples quickly without the need to measure or carry several different tools with them in the field. With a single motion the user is able to accurately collect the 8 inch section of stalk needed without measuring and making multiple cuts. The development of this tool allows the user to cut down on labor cost and time and offers the ease of mind knowing that the correct section of stalk is being sampled. In addition to time and labor savings the sampler holds the cornstalk within the two cutting edges until removed to ensure that the stalk sample is not dropped  and contaminated by the soil.
